Oh the Hilarity! (A Quickie)

On Wednesday, I had a message on my voicemail from my endocrinologist’s nurse.

“Hi Lori, I’m just calling to check in with you to see how you’re doing on the Ozempic. If you’re doing okay, you don’t have to call us back.”

She CAN’T be serious, right? I mean COME ON.

I haven’t been able to get the Ozempic since I’m still waiting for my doctor to send the prior authorization request to my insurance company. After three weeks.

So… once again, I called the endocrinologist’s office. It seems when I call that office, it goes to a central location and not the endocrinology office itself. That’s not the case with the oncology office. When I call that office, I am calling the place where I actually receive my chemotherapy treatments. But it was obvious that with this call and the previous one I made to endocrinology, it was just to “Lovelace Medical Group.”

Of course I apologized upfront for my agitation and told the woman who answered the phone about the message I received. “I have left numerous messages for my provider and several phone calls about this. My insurance company faxed the prior authorization form to her on January 31. Today is February 22, and she STILL has not returned the form. It’s now been six weeks since I’ve taken any diabetes medication.”

She said she would call the clinic to see if she could reach a medical assistant. She came back on the line after a short hold and said, “The MA said they are working on it right now.”

“I see. So it only takes eight myChart messages and three phone calls. Got it.” I was almost laughing at this point at the absurdity of this.

“Well, no, it shouldn’t take that long. Hopefully they’ll get it over today.”

Oh yes, I have all the faith in the world that they took care of it.
